Finding the Right AC Unit

When it comes to finding the right AC unit, there are a lot of factors to take into account. Here are a couple of topics to help you narrow down your search. In the end, we always recomend a certified technician to approve the selection you have made to avoid returns and exchanges due to wrong equipment.

Application

The first option we want to select is the application of the unit. Are we using it for Air Conditioning only? Do we want to have heating capabilities? Do we want it to heat a lot more in the winter? Do I want a gas configuration to save on my energy bill? Depending on your answer to these questions you will pick between a normal AC Condenser, Heat Pumps or Furnances.

Tonnage

Now we look at the tonnage you need. This is determined on the size of the house/apartment and the cooling/heating needs.

Efficiency

Now that we have our desired tonnage we move into efficiency. An HVAC unit’s efficiency is determined by the number of SEERs. The higher the number, the more efficient the unit is. For example, a 14 SEER unit is less efficient than an 18 SEER unit. Efficiency helps bring down the cost of running an HVAC unit.

Size and Fitment

Now we look at size and fitment. This is helpful in making sure the unit you are looking to buy fits properly in the area you are looking to place it in. This information can be found under the Specifications tab in all our product listings.

BTUs

Primairly used when identifying the right indoor unit for you Mini Split system. BTUs determine the tonage needed to fill different size rooms. Too much and you can run into humidity issues and damage your unit. Too little and you will not feel the right temperature in that room. Our Mini Split Systems range from 7000 BTUs to 24000 BTUs.
If you need more help in choosing the right HVAC unit, we recommend you speak to your certified technician or contact us.

Finding the Right Air Filter
